Jean-Philippe is the award-winning and bestselling author of real-life adventure and travel memoirs published under his full name. He also writes in different genres, using pen names to differentiate among them. Colin Hunter is his pseudonym for cycling books. He served as a French Special Forces mountain commando; led jungle, mountain, and kayaking expeditions; and traveled all over the world to produce photo documentaries.

He started cross-country skiing and cycling races while living in Japan. In 1996, he won the prologue of the UCI Asia Tour de Hokkaido, despite having no prior experience in road racing. Jean-Philippe credits his win to a strong cardio capacity after having recently swapped mountaineering and cross-country skiing for cycling. He raced track for a few years in the United States. He is also a certified USA Cycling Coach and licensed professional French cycling guide. He offers 20 years of experience in designing and guiding unique cycling tours to Europe’s best mountain destinations, and he has organized multiple cycling fundraising events.

In 2019, he and his wife, Yumi, set the record as the first pair to finish the 7,400+ km ultra-cycling race from Norway to Spain. In 2020, he raced the 1080 km ultra-bikepacking championship stage in the Sultana of Oman.

Bikepacking combines his passion for ultra-cycling, travel, and adventure. He is the organizer of the Ultra Bike Pursuit bikepacking events that cover the entire mountain chain of his native Pyrenees.

Through his books, Jean-Philippe shares his passion for life. He inspires others to believe in their dreams, find their true self, and live the life they’ve always desired.
